PRE-PLAN YOUR PROTECTION—Up your hydration game to prepare for a trip. Apply a hydrating mask right before you leave the house for your flight (Super Soothe 2 in 1 Mask by Tu'el is my pick) to protect your skin for the day. Pack a hydrating/antioxidant mist in your carry-on to apply during the flight. Use a heavier body cream or oil from the neck down. Products that are too heavy for everyday use are perfect for the dehydrating effects of a long flight.
DRINK WATER AND TAKE FISH OIL— A glass of water every hour to be specific and Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega is my favorite for fish oil.. Our skin needs both water and oil to balance our barrier. Hydration inside and out will help you to look and feel so much better when you arrive at your destination.
BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM—Take some Vitamin C and Nettle Tea Leaf supplements to help prevent the post-flight bug and any allergies you may encounter on your journey. Nettle Tea is a natural supplement without the dehydrating effects of other allergy medications.
SPF—Apply sunscreen when you board and every 2 to 3 hours of flight. This rule only applies during daylight hours, obviously. Also, make sure you packed enough for the duration of your trip. You should be applying every 80 minutes when in the sun so take that into account when planning how much you will need.
DON'T SACRIFICE YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE— If purchasing travel size products of your whole regimen isn't in the travel budget, purchase travel containers. Many stores offer these including Target and they are less than $1. I have had too many clients come in with very irritated and inflamed skin who used whatever products the hotel carried because they didn't want to check a bag. Totally worth buying travel containers to use the routine that is customized to you.
ENJOY YOUR TRAVELS!
